Frequently Asked Questions
Are my videos uploaded to a server?
No. The clips are read and joined by your browser on your own device. Nothing is uploaded, so your videos stay private.
Will merging reduce the quality?
Not when the clips match. Clips with the same format, size and audio settings, such as parts made with our Video Splitter, are joined without re-encoding, so the quality stays exactly the same. Clips that differ are re-encoded at high quality to one size and format.
Can I merge videos with different sizes or orientations?
Yes. The tool converts them to one output size. You can match the first clip, match the largest clip, or pick 1080p or 720p. Clips with a different shape get black bars instead of being stretched, and phone videos recorded sideways are turned upright.
How many clips can I merge?
Up to 20 clips at a time, up to 2 GB in total. Very large merges use a lot of browser memory, so a desktop browser works best for them.
What happens to clips without sound?
If some clips have audio and others do not, the silent clips get silence for their length. The sound stays in sync with the picture for every clip.
What format is the merged video?
MP4, which plays almost everywhere. When every clip is WebM and the join is lossless, the result stays WebM.
Is this tool free?
Yes. There is no watermark, no account and no limit on how often you use it.
